thanks for your reply, my system is one i tossed together
it's a pen 2 cpu with 256 memory,i used a dell win xp disk
for the xp install, i get that message at times when i try
to open from my computer (ie) i go to my computer icon
click it opens i go down the list lets say i pick drive c
then try to open my downloads then "pop" i get that message
windows explorer must shut down screen go back to my desk
top, i'll try to get the codes and post them soon thank
you once again
 
What Jim is trying to tell you "politely" is that you are violating the EULA
on the "dell win xp disk". This will be a OEM disk that is tied to the
original Dell computer that it was shipped with. When you "tossed
together...a pen 2 cpu with 256 memory" you would be required to purchase a
retail version of Windows XP to comply with the EULA.

He and most other persons will not give support to people who violate the
EULA, especially since this is a Microsoft supported newsgroup.

Actually he could buy a MS OEM CD and a piece of hardware.
But Dell doesn't ship an un-modified Windows CD, you don't
know what is really there. It won't have drivers and such
for hardware Dell doesn't sell.
