Hello Frank,

I managed to remove SP2 from windows xp pro, but for some reason it's stayed
in IE6. Is there a way to remove it from IE via recovery console?

Thanks-Dave

Hello PA Bear, This wasn't a reply to a previous post, it was the first
post. Anyway I did what you suggested and what I got was " ;SP1;" without
the quotes. However when I click help, About IE, it still shows "Version
6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.040919-1003" Which IE6 do I now have?

Thanks,
Dave

You are running very outdated (Aug-2002), unpatched (and therefore *much*
less-secure) versions of OE, IE and Windows XP SP1. (Disregard the 'sp2' in
'6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.040919-1003'. It's simply "pointing to" WinXP/IE SP1.)
Check in at Windows Update ASAP and re-enable Automatic Updates.

However, you do *not* have an SP2 version of IE6 installed, which is what
you were wondering about. (There isn't an 'IE6 SP2' anyway though many of
us casually refer to IE6 running in WinXP SP2 as such.)

What Robear said.
Since you started a new thread, why were you trying to remove SP2?

LOL. That's a pretty funny habit.

I was just looking at the IE6 SP1 CD order website via another thread
here and was wondering why it wasn't SP2 ;)
