Thanks for being true MVP's. Now walk an idiot through
the steps. I have my Office 97 Pro CD. Once overnight I
actually saw "buttons" for "sign" and "encrypt" but
nothing happened. Please, explain in detail how to Set-Up
the ability to utilize ETEXCH.ecf, x.509 Certs using
Outlook v8.02 rather than using OE6 for this function.
I'd like to utilize the Journal feature without manual
entry. Thanks, John (jmoore3rd@hotmail)

Do you use Exchange as your mail server? If not, you'll need to get and
install a separate S/MIME product -- see
http://www.slipstick.com/addins/security.htm#smime. (The first Outlook
version to have native S/MIME support was Outlook 98.) If so, check with
your Exchange administrator, who will need to give you some information.

What does this have to do with the Journal?

No, I don't use Exchange. I just noticed that when added
as a "Service" the Digital Security buttons appeared. I
do not have "an administrator!" unless it is me. My O/S
is 98 SE and I also have Office 97 installed. Digital
Security is available via OE, but in Outlook I can
automatically Journal email exchanges to selected
Contacts. Once I switch to OE to Digitally Sign a
message, I have to enter the Journal entry by hand. I now
know that MS used to offer an upgrade to OL 98 for FREE
but discontinued the practice! I'm now seeking one of the
old $10 CD's to get the upgrade. I checked Slipstick and
haven't heard anything from them, nor did I see any
product listed for 98 SE. John
