Attendance Data

Hi, I am sort of a beginner/intermediate with Access but at this point,
I am not sure. I recently created a database to track student
attendance. Now that I have data, I wanted to create a report
identifiying percentage of attendance. The way is set the form was by
date which includes a drop down menu by each date: yes, no, excused,
canceled.

Can I create a value for the menu items? In this way, I would be able
to calculate a percentage.

Maybe I have made this more complicated that it should be. But, I have
to indicate the date and whether the student attended or not.

I am not sure that I understand you right, but it seems to me that something
in the QBE grid on the lines of:

AvgAttend: AVG(IIF([yourfield]="yes",100,0))

I know it probably sounds strange but I believe what you wrote is what
I need to know. Let me explain again:

I currently have a attendance database created by date, 10/23/06 (for
example). Next to the date, I created a drop menu which can be
selected. The choices are Yes, No, Excused, Canceled. I have these
choices next to each date, allowing me to select as needed. Now that I
have this data, in reports, I want to be able to tabulate and provide a
percentage of attendance overall. This could be by month which would be
able to total out of 100%, a student had 50% attendance. I hope this is
more specific and please let me know if this is related to what you
replied. Thanks for your time.
