By default XP is set to block opening of attachments. Can change by going
to Tools>Options...>Security tab in Outlook Express, then unmarking "Do not
allow attachments to be saved or opened..."

I leave the Office install issue to others. There are free readers
available on the Microsoft website, but that's it; just read.

I just go this information this AM. From Taurarian:

"You can get an Excel viewer here:"
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4EB83149-91DA-4110-
8595-4A960D3E1C7C&displaylang=en
"Sorry about the long URL but I'm at work."

I can't male this thing work as a link. Copy that whole thing as a single
line in the address bar in IE or whatever browser you use. Remember, this
is ONLY a reader; you can't do any editing in it. Should be able to copy
though. I am curious to know if/how this works. God luck.
