I use Outlook Express. Whenever someone sends me an e-mail with an attachment, I get the e-mail but not the attachment. What do I do to correct this? Thank you

Ask in an Outlook Express forum. This is an Microsoft Office Outlook forum.

Outlook Express is family of Internet Explorer and Outlook of the Office
family.

Here is the link for the right forum
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer

Good Luck!

Are you a retard?! Do you not have the mental capacity to a) do a flippin'
Google search and b) realise this is the *WRONG GROUP*?!

Sorry, that was a stupid question, of course you don't or you wouldn't have
wasted our precious bandwidth with a pointless, needless and repetitive
post! This is the 20th time I've seen this question asked this afternoon -
if you can't search back half-a-dozen posts, then it's blatantly obvious
that you lack the mental faculties needed to operate a computer.

Dear Bastet,

Please keep it nice in here. I believe I asked you before to stop with the
name calling.

Also note that Google is just a method to get to an answer; so is this
newsgroup. You'll have to respect their choice to get to an answer by using
a newsgroup instead of doing a Google search.

There are quite a lot of sites out there with information regarding Outlook
and Outlook Express. Many of them handle different versions of Outlook as
well. Some people simply can't make anything out of this. Also some people
are not comfortable with doing something to their computer because they
"just found" a specific website about it; they need the interaction and
information in a more personal way of communication to get the confidence in
actually making a change to their computer configuration.

I hope you understand that this newsgroup is for both beginners and advanced
users so you can find here questions between "where is the any-key?" to "how
to programm your own add-in?"

As for your "precious bandwidth"; don't reply if you don't want to answer
somebody and don't reply if it is just for name calling.

Thank you.

No, I don't believe you did...

No I won't. Posting without searching first simply indicates that they're
too lazy to wipe their own arse - and I, for one, don't wipe arses.

Here's a paragraph taken from my favourite "How Not To Ask Dumb Questions"
site.

"Before asking a question in a newsgroup, or on a website chat board, do the
following:
1.. Try to find an answer by searching the Web.

2.. Try to find an answer by reading the manual.

3.. Try to find an answer by reading a FAQ.

4.. Try to find an answer by inspection or experimentation.

5.. Try to find an answer by asking a skilled friend."

Now - what's the number one on the above list? If people cannot search, then
they do not have the necessary capacity to handle any information we might
be able to give them.

There are quite a lot of sites out there with information regarding
Outlook and Outlook Express. Many of them handle different versions
of Outlook as well. Some people simply can't make anything out of
this.

I'm not talking about websites - I'm talking about a Google Group search.
Search on that topic in GG and you receive over 7,000 hits.

Also some people are not comfortable with doing something to
their computer because they "just found" a specific website about it;
they need the interaction and information in a more personal way of
communication to get the confidence in actually making a change to
their computer configuration.

See above.
I hope you understand that this newsgroup is for both beginners and
advanced users so you can find here questions between "where is the
any-key?" to "how to programm your own add-in?"

Incorrect. This group is for Outlook. OE questions are definitely OT and not
welcome here. Posting should be a *LAST* resort when all other available
resources have been exausted - not because someone doesn't know a search
engine from their own arse (and if that's the case then how they managed to
find the 'on' switch, I'll never know...)
As for your "precious bandwidth"; don't reply if you don't want to
answer somebody and don't reply if it is just for name calling.

I was talking generally. A repetitive post, that could have been answered by
30 seconds spent searching Google Groups. And I know for certain I'm not the
only one who feels this way.
Thank you.

You're most welcome.
..

I did ask you before;
"If you don't want to help just don't reply. There is no need for name
calling here. It is very common in newsgroups that people don't search
(well) before they post. Just deal with it." posted on 21 November.

Anyway I'm sorry you feel that way. I still don't see that posting here is
being lazy but just another way and a more personal way of getting an
answer.

I'm not incorrect about that this newsgroup is for beginners and advanced
users. The fact that people are posting to the wrong newsgroup can happen to
anyone. Especially for Outlook Express users who probably don't even know
how it is different from or even the existence of Microsoft Office Outlook.
But from your posts I see that you are only here to point people to the
Outlook Express forum anyway. Thanks for that.

Regards,

I concur with you 100%. Newsgroups are for those in need and those willing
to contribute. If this annoys one why doesn't he simply avoid newsgroups?
This is the first time that I subscribe to this newsgroup and I do have an
attachment problem that I would like to resolve. I'm sure it was asked
before and I am not about to research thousands and thousands of google
e-mails when I can get an immediate resolve in this group. That's what
newsgroups are for.

And now my problem, for those willing to help.

Though there aren't any attachments, my OE version 6 will always read the
following at the top of all e-mails (preceded by a paper clip)"OE removed
access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail:ATT00004.htm". All
other e-mails, without attachments, will have the same message though the
ATTxxxx.htm number will be greater. Keep in mind I am not using OE 2000,
etc.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Ernie,

Thanks for backing me in this :-)

Sadly I'll have to direct you to a different newsgroup. This is an Microsoft
Office Outlook forum.

Outlook Express is family of Internet Explorer and Outlook of the Office
family.
