It appears that in e-mail messages, Outlook will use Icon
Size and Icon Font size settings from the Desktop's
Display Properties when it embeds attachment icons. But
it does not use Icon Horizontal Spacing setting from the
Desktop's Display Properties. My combination of settings
is such that the text with the attachment icons are
truncated and too hard to read. Is there a setting
somewhere (Registry ?) that will allow me to adjust the
Icon Horizontal Spacing for Outlook e-mail attachments ?

No, but you can use the HTML format instead. This way the attachment is
displayed in a rule directly under the subject. HTML format is more
compatible than Rich Text with mailclients other than Outlook. To change the
format go to Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Format.

Hope this helps!
