attachment format

when ever i send an Excell or word file as a attachment through microsoft outlook.My couterpart complains that he is only gettin the attachment in a winmail.dat format.He is not able to open it.Please advise how to solve this problem?Should i install any add ins
 
Change your message format to plain text or html and consider disabling Word
as your e-mail editor. (all done under tools | options | mail format)
