When I attach a photo to an Outlook e-mail, there is a little arrow on the
bottom (sent file), that includes pictures and banners that have nothing to
do with what I wanted to send. Why does windows pick up unrelated history
and transmit? I see this on incoming photos from other people as well.
Anyone have any idea how to break that link?

The unwanted images you're seeing are
in your Temporary Internet Files folder:

Actually, it's a good idea to run Disk Cleanup
on a regular schedule;

Open Word and open the document you want to insert the picture in. Go to the
location in your document where you want to insert the picture.
Click on Insert on the top bar.
Click on Picture on the opening menu
Click From file on the opening menu.
A window will open for you to browse to select the folder and the file you
want to insert. Just select the file and the photo will open in your Word
document.
