Attaching photos to e-mail

When I try to merely "attach" a photo to an e-mail, the photo is also
"inserted" into the body of the message. What am I doing wrong?

If you are using Outlook Express...try this...

Open OE and go to...Tools / Options / Read tab...

Place a check in the box:
"Read All Messages In Plain Text" / Apply / OK.

Two ways to insert a picture.
If you select Insert, Picture, From file and browse to select the file, the
file will be displayed in the message.
If you select Insert, File and then browse to select the photo file, the
file is shown as an attachment.
You can also right click on the file and select send to on the opening menu
and then e-mail. The file will be shown as an attachment.
 
Thank you for the response, but no matter which of the three recommended ways
I try, the photo still appears BOTH as an attachment AND in the body of the
message. It's frustrating, to say the least.
 
I did not ask about your e-mail software. Obviously I assumed you are on
Outlook or Outlook Express. Maybe this was a wrong assumption. Let us know
what you use for e-mail and we will try again.
 
My computer is a two month old IBM Thinkpad: Windows XP (SP2), Outlook
Express, cable connection to internet. Thanks, again.
 
Have not worked with Express in a while, but try this.
Click on Tools, Options and on the Send tab.
Look at what you have there. Probably you have an HTML settings that need to
be changed about including pictures.
 
I have verified that the "send pictures with messages" box is not checked,
but the problem still exists.
I would note that some of the RECIPIENTS of my e-mail do not see the
photograph in the body of the message (ie., the photo is, as I intended,
merely an attachment) if they have selected "Read all messages in plain text"
under the Tools> Options> Read tab in Outlook Express. Since I can't control
the settings on my recipients computers, I would still like to find a way to
insure that the photos are merely attachments, and don't appear in the body
of the message. Thanks.
 
Put your photo's in a zip file with WinZip (there are other programs also)
and send the .zip file. You won't be able to *see* it then. www.winzip.com
your recipients also need to unzip to see to photo's of course.
 
Thanks. Your suggestion works, but it would sure be nice to just be able to
to just simply attach a photo, (like it seems everyone else does), rather
than to have a recipient have to unzip the photo. Thanks again.
