When I attach files to an email message in Outlook (2002)
it shows the attachment as being an icon within the
message body that one could double-click to open. The
problem is that it used to show what appeared to be an
Attachment field (like the To field, From field, Bcc
field, etc.) and just listed the attachment. I prefer
this option as opposed to it being in the message body
but I cannot figure out why it stopped doing that or how
to change it back.
Can anyone help me with this?

It takes a little getting used to, for sure, but that's the way
Outlook handles attaching files. On the plus side, it gives you an
easy way to verify that in fact you've attached the right file (just
double click), and it also incorporates the ability to use Windows
copy and paste to create the attachment, obviating the need to set the
path by browsing to it, click by click by click. (The attachment pane
is right-clickable for menu options).

So, subject to any security blocks on the file type, you just have to
trust seeing the icon means it is primed for sending.
