ATI's roadmap beyond the 9800?

I haven't been following the bleeding edge vid card wars much lately,
while I know the 9800 series are great cards, does anyone have info
about what ATI's next product refresh will be like, or when it will
happen? The 9700 Pro & 9800 line are already DX9 cards and should be
"good enough" (I hope) for HL2 and Doom3. Is there any indication
that the next product line will offer a breakthrough in features or
performance? Is buying a 9800 now a good choice, or is there
something coming out that is worth waiting for? I hang onto my video
cards a long time so I'd prefer something with a good amount of
future-use capability.

Allways ready (and in this case expecting) to be prooved wrong, but I saw it
posted somewhere that ATi were pushing their major product releases back to
2 year intervals. Not sure when this is supposed to start from, but thier
next big thing is supposed to be DX10 compliant. I guess in the mean time
there will maybe be a few more minor releases based on the current GPUs
first (taking my 9800XT as onjly being a sooped up 9700 I wonder when the
policy started).

R420 should be out in April, somewhere around 2x9700pro performance, so's
the rumour.

12x1 or even 16x1 pixel render lines... for what the stories tell.
12x1 has the highest probability though. And on a smaller processor
method they will go even. They rode it out this time easily within a
rather "big" size :-)
