I have spent the better part of the day trying to get Microsoft to simply
send me the known fix (Hotfix 817589) so that my new TV Wonder card will
stop hanging on my Windows XP P4 Hyper Threading system. Does anybody have
this file? I have called three times and actually got them to email
me...however the tech forgot to attach the file. When i called them back
they told me the research team would contact me in two business days....all
i need is a stupid file for a known issue. Any help would be appreciated.

I am also anxiously waiting replies on this. My TV Wonder Pro card hangs
daily with my P4 Hyperthreading system.
Microsoft has never replied to me at all. (Even though their website
admits that is is a Windows problem).
There must be many people with this configuration experiencing this problem.

Posts that i have seen from people who have recieved the fix say it clears
the problem. My suggestion would be to initiate an online ticket then call
them and hound them mercilessly. I purchased my copy of windows XP for a
home built system so at least i am not getting "call your PC maker for
support" answer but you would think i was asking for the world. Since it is
a known issue they should not charge you for support, but that assumes you
will actually get any. So far i have placed three support calls lasting over
a total of one and a half hours, have responded to the online ticket twice
and initiated two support chat sessions. You would think somebody would send
me the damn file just so they could not waste any more time on me. If i
ever actually get the file i will let you know. I dont understand why this
fix is so top secret. Post a link and save everybody's time and resources.

according to ATI - you're screwed. It's not Microsoft's fault because
the other TV card brands work fine. As usual, it's an ATI software /
driver problem.

I can tell you what works for me - WinDVD's DVD Recorder software.
While ATI cant make their own products work, others can. Isnt that
pathetic?

I finally recieved the Hot Fix and it appears to resolve all crash issues as
outlined in Knowledge base #817589. If anybody needs it just email me
(remove the no spam) and i will forward it over.

What's pathetic is that trolls, like yourself, who have nothing better to do
than blame a company for their own incompetence.

Here's a couple of links to help those whose TV-Wonders lock up while
watching TV. This is a pre-release Service Pack 2 fix from Microsoft and
yet they are not posting it anywhere, you have to call them to get it. I
found a site to download it from.

Here's the Microsoft article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;817589
And the files:
http://web.tampabay.rr.com/jt007/TUNERFIX.exe

If you've posted this question under other threads, or in other forums,
please take the time to post this solution there as well. I hope it works
for you.

Cheers.
