According to ATI the reason my TV tuner card hangs is
because of a known issue with Windows XP ,
hyperthreading , and this card. Upon checking MS's website
KB article Q817589, this is true. Is there a way to get
this patch from Microsoft ithout having to pay for it ...
or in their words "wait for the next Service Pack" ?

I tried two different ATI TV tuner cards and one from Pinnacle and none of them would work. They all caused my machine to crash in a variety of ways

Finally I gave up and got a Hauppauge USB TV tuner and it works just fine. Good luck on getting the TV tuner card to work but if you decide to throw in the towel try a USB tuner
