Ati Tool!

How safe is the ati tool to find the max overclockability of my new 9600Pro
card. Will It cause any permanent hardware problems. I got nervous when it
reached 475/340. So I stopped it and set the clocks to 463/335. Should I
just let it find the max speeds and stop worrying?

Does a good job. Leave settings as default so it runs the 3D heatup
longer everytime it goes up a number of steps. You'll get some
artifacts showing up first. Simply stop it and wind it down a few
notches.

It should artifact well before it causes permanent damage.

Just let it run... if the artifacting gets too much for you (it should
automagically back it down) then stop it.
