Hi

I have an ATI Raedon 1600. I only use the drivers (I
have the latest one 7.1 of Jan 2007) and not the
catalyst programme. I am checking things out before I
upgrade. I have heard rumours that there are problems
with ATI. and Vista. Anybody experiencing this?

Colin:
I have the X1300 256mb and have had no problems with it. I did go to
the site and downloaded the latest drivers for vista and its working
great.

Both the ATI and Nvidia Vista drivers are not what they should be. Both
companies dropped the ball with Vista driver development. All you can do
is try and see. Some work better than others. I have one Vista PC using an
ATI Radeon X300/550 card and everything works fine - except Flash will not work
in MSIE - even with the latest drivers. It is a driver issue.

If you are a PC gamer, that is where most of the driver problems are occuring.

Flash content is rendered by the CPU and then output to the graphics card.

If you're not seeing flash content then it's something wrong with either
your flash install or IE itself.

my laptop is equiped with ATI X1600 512MB(256MB dedicated, 256 through
hypermemory), and it runs fine with the new catalyst 7

Am using the ATI Radeon X1600 Pro with 512meg DDR, connected via AGP on
Vista Ultimate/32. Also have 2gig memory on system board. Have absolutely no
problems, even with Catalyst, with latest drivers loaded.

HTH.
