Hi group, while playing a game i wanted to check my mail so i pressed the
windows key.
I am runnin winxp and ati drivers version 6.14.10.6360 catalist.
I minimize my game but all windows screens are a bit garbled.
Anyone experiencing the same?
Could this be a driver issue or should i suspect the hardware?
It is only 1 month old so i can replace it without any problems if needed.

If you're using OE, it seems to use more resources than you might think -
especially if you have a lot of messages. It doesn't save the messages as
files; it saves them as a database. You may also be playing a game that
uses resources, too - might just be that you're expecting too much of your
system.

Depending on the game. Some game will let you alt tap (same as window key)
with no problem while others will produce strange artifact.

I understand, but i recently upgraded from nvidia based card to ati based
card and with nvidia i could alt tab from i.e. command and conquer generals
to windows without any garbled windows.
But with ati i get it more and more.
I suspect the hardware but if other users have experienced the same than it
could also be driver related. Just want to be sure before returning the
card.

I have a 9800 Pro and ALT + TABbing out of C&C: Generals works fine for me
(and that's with OE6 and Outlook XP running in the background).

I can check later tonight as I finally got around to installing games on my
new system (the one with the R9800P).

I found that the redline utility that was shipped with the package caused
this behaviour.
Redline is used for presets of games and overclocking.
