I had problems running my old 128 MB PCI Express X16 ATI Radeon X300 on
Windows Vista, just FYI.

Deal :o)
I love that programme!! Just ensure you can get Glass drivers for it :o)

Any clue what that card would rate in Vista? My goal is to get my
computer's overall score to a 3 or higher. With my new Sempron 64 2800+,
hopefully that's possible. The only thing I don't like about my Sempron is
just the idea that the clock speed is only 1.6GHz even though it is much
faster than my Athlon XP was. I do, however, really like that my new
Sempron 64 runs over 20 C cooler than my Athlon XP did. My Athlon XP always
ran in the 50's or higher where this Sempron 64 is staying right around 30
in the same case in the same room temperatures. Until I get my new video
card, I'm stuck with my MX4000, which definitely won't run Glass.

It's tricky... from what you say, it's a switch between 2 and 3... probably
3. The 64-bit certainly helps (as only 64-bit machines can get a performance
(WinSAT) rating of 5), but the processor speed may reduce it. With your
video card now, if it can't get Glass then it might not get anything more
than a 2, but with a Glass-enabled driver card, then yeh it may well hit
over a 3 :o)

Well, I'm making sure that I have a video card that will run Aero Glass
before the public beta in a few weeks, so it won't be around very long. I
believe an Athlon XP 2800+ is supposed to get a 3 on the winSAT, so the
Sempron 64 2800+ I would expect to then. (We'll have to see though.) I
hope WinSAT doesn't judge your computer based on clock speed. It might help
me out more when I get PC-3200 RAM to replace all of my PC-2700 and PC-3200
RAM. My new K8N will only detect my RAM as 133 and when I bring it up to
166 or even 160, the computer crashes. Just like when I tried to overclock
my Athlon XP 2400+ that far. The new RAM that I'll be getting in June
should bring my computer's performance up by a few percent.

I switched from Radeon 9000 Pro AGP 4x/2x to a X1300 AGP 8x/4x. It
helped. I could play at medium settings with 2x AA. Using an old
Asus i815ep, P3-1.4GHz, 512M.

It's a good solid card within the range it represents. It'll make Vista look
pretty for sure.
