I wanted to install the newest drivers but I was told on the ATI website that
I should UNINSTALL the older drivers first with the UNINSTALLER, which I've
downloaded.
So after uninstalling the drivers I was prompted to reboot, but I chose NOT
to reboot but to install the newset drivers immediatly (because I KNEW i'll
have to reboot after installing the new drivers, and I just wanted to reboot
ONCE, not twice).
So anyway, I was busy installing the NEWEST drivers for the card when during
the instalation it said "can't install; use vgh mode instead. (What's
that???).
So i exited the setup and decided to reboot now.
But after rebooting (and seeing the windows XP logo at reboot) the screen
goes BLACK and remains BLACK!!!! AAARGH!!! (what have I done!?)
I find it weird, because Nvidia cards still work even after being
uninstalled! (With nVidia I don't get a BLACK SCREEN!)
I tried reboot in SAFE mode; latest configuration that WORKS, etc. NO
solution helps. And I've also tried to repair the system with "restore
console" but it says to type the administrators password...and guess what!? I
(ME) AM the administartor and I have NO password! (???)n (maybe Dell's
password???)
I bet this is a tough cookie to CRACK!
