ATI Mobile Radeon Drivers

WARNING!!

I installed the beta on my IBM Thinkpad R40 (it took MANY tries but I
finally got it) today and my laptop has an ATI Mobile Radeon graphics
adaptor. When Vista first started, it would run for only three to five
minutes before the Radeon CPU would overheat (NEVER happens with XP SP2.)
Finally I put the Laptop in my FREEZER to get it cold enough to run long
enough so I could configure wireless, get online and update the drivers,
which I did and now it's working as it should (and much faster I might add.)
MS should have a WARNING pop up when it firsts detects this chip - I fear
there are going to be some upset Laptop users with fried graphics processors
(which equals a new motherboard in most laptops!)

I just hope no permanent damage was done.

You need to do two things, contact IBM about this, and I don't mean send
them a e-mail. I mean get on the phone with somebody there to explain to
them about what you have experienced with Vista on your laptop. They in
return will get in touch with Microsoft about the issue and will further
check out the problem and do proper testing.

Next, you see that Feedback link on your Vista desktop? Open it and use the
suggested links to file a report about the issue and explain your
experiences. We have some time before RTM, so there is an opportunity for
changes.

Thanks. I have done both things and IBM wasn't aware of the problem - they
(Lenovo) say that the particular GPU I have is not on the 'newer' Thinkpads
so they might not have otherwise heard about it.
