ATI Demos/screensavers backwards compatible?

Hi all

I was just browsing the ati website and found some screensavers.. but now i
wonder if the different savers only work on specific chips? RADEON 8500,
RADEON 9700 or RADEON 9800

If you have a 9800 then.. would it be possible to run a 8500 or 9700
screensaver??? or can you only run the 9800 specific ones??

PS i don't have a ati gfx card so i can't try..

They are backwards compatible, but not always forwards compatible. In other
words, you can run the 8500 demos with a 9800, but not vice-versa.

Er, Skid, you've got it the wrong way round - backwards compatible is
compatible with older stuff, forwards compatible is compatible with newer
stuff. A little too much of having your vice versa? ;-)

Not that I'm having a go - I've hung around here for a while and have a lot
of respect for your knowledge and opinions - and helpfulness.

I have the Mobeus Ant screen saver installed and was designed for 9700.
It worked well. Even the cell screen saver which I didn't like much
worked. :)
