I run a Radeon 7200 (agp) and a Xpert98 (pci).
I always have to install the Radeon's software (everything not just the
driver) without the Xpert even in the system. Once I get that all working
correctly I then put in the Xpert and install ONLY it's driver. Even then it
walks all over the Control Panel always replacing it with the older Xpert's.
Updating drivers is therefore a bitch at best and a nightmar5e at worst,
especially it install doesn't do the MMC stuff correctly as then your more
or less fuc*ed. It's what caused my last clean install.
I CANNOT fix the problem by re-installing the Radeon's driver (after Xpert
up and going) as it either 1) refuses to install as it only "sees" the Xpert
or 2) walks all over everything deleting most of the MMC stuff etc. even
though it shouldn't even touch it to my mind. I have yet to find any magic
formula that'll keep the Displays property sheet page (hence TV-Out control)
under 98SE when the Xpert's enabled, I have to boot with Xpert disabled to
retain Displays page. Under XP, I install using same procedure but do end up
with ability to control everything without any workarounds.
The bottom line is their installs are too stupid to examine all the cards in
the system and determine which one it should "install" for and it doesn't
appear they ever intend to actually fix the problem.
I'm just hoping some cheap 8 meg nVidia pci card (TNT2 or so) comes along so
I can try it with another brand and hopefully then the installs won't
continually fight each other.

update:
Physically removed the 7000 and the ATI codecs appeared under Device
manager /sound,video.../
TV working !
Physically installed the card back and booted up to find ATI codecs
missing ???
Is there any way of running both Radeon cards 7000 and 7500 and
getting the TV to work ?

I was able to get everything working using the latest drivers for the
7500.
1. Installed the 7500 and got everything working, inc. TV/DVD/Remote
(does guide+ ever work ? only get 10 stations on cable setting)
2.Installed 7000 card and re-installed the
[wxp-w2k-catalyst-7-991-040224m-013831c.exe] drivers/software.
Everything works @1280x1024 on 2 Amptron LCD monitors except the TV
???
Error msg:
"The TV player failed to initialize the video.
Check the Windows Device Manager to ensure that the correct video
driver has been installed and is working properly before attempting to
restart TV."
I checked in the device manager and everything is behaving. No
conflicts etc...
btw
Win2k server
Disabled terminal services b/c the tv won't work when running.
Anyone have any ideas ?
