Bah, small differences. Enable sound, and performance usually drops a lot
more than that.

Haven't had to roll back a driver in a long time until I installed this
one. Games lock up after a few seconds.
At least the VPU feature worked. Rolled back to 6.4 and all is well.

Hmmm, sad that, pretty sure they're giving me around 10FPS faster in BF2
than the 6.4's !!

'Realism is seductive because once you have accepted the reasonable notion
that you should base your actions on reality, you are too often led to
accept, without much questioning, someone else's version of what that
reality is. It is a crucial act of independent thinking to be skeptical of
someone else's description of reality.'-

6.5 caused a noticeable degradation in WoW for me. Rolled back to 6.4
and all is well. Will wait for the 6.6's ...

There's so many bug fixes listed in the release notes of this version that
I don't doubt they broke new things fixing all that stuff. I'll wait for
6.6.

Also wouldn't be surprised if the 'Adaptive AA' they've introduced for
older cards causes an instant performance hit if they enable it by default
for those cards.

My thought on the subject would be that they allow more image quality
to down grade the gaming experience and by this getting people to buy
new stuff.

It's just like putting more detail in the option tab it require more
power from the graphic card. I remember once changing from an older
version of drivers and then notice that the image quality was less
details and by that increasing the fps.

In example in oblivion if i'm ok, there less grass going from 6.4 to
6.5 but i cloud be wrong and its not what i smoke. (little joke
here)...

Plus it is said on ati web site that on some older card that it can
add more fps going from 6.4 to 6.5 if i'm ok. Ie: up to 30% more of
fps in ut2004. I wonder where they cut in the rendering on those
cards. Maybe on the number of object that appear in games in a certain
distance.

I have a Radeon X850 XT and I just tested the sleep button on my
machine, Abit NF7-S AMD 3200, and not only did it go to sleep - that
part always happened - but it came out of sleep too!! Wow. I can't
remember the last ATI driver I installed when that would work for me.

This one is a keeper, at least for me.

Wow, that what you got out of reading this....
