Looks like performance is up across the board!, even on low and midrange.

My X1900XTX scores have increased substantially, especially in 3DMark06.

Also, subjectively, performance seems to have increased.

While some people have expressed difficulties with the Cat 6.2 install, I
had none.

Great job ATI!!

That just about mirrors my initial experiences too.

3DMark05 is up by nearly 500 points for me on an X1800XL at stock
speeds.

I'm not too sure about overall performance, I feel it may just be
psychological :)

That damn placebo effect will get ya every time! ;)

Ah well, ignorance is bliss right? If you feel it's faster than it is
faster.

BF2 seems slower and my 3dmark05 has gone down - it took 3 attempts to get
the driver installed on my x1900xtx

Indeed :)

It's the same with my car. Whenever I give it a good wash and polish
on top of a thorough valeting it always seems to be a smoother and
faster drive.

In fact, I think I would actually describe my graphics performance as
smoother rather than faster since installing 6.2

Very strange....

On my X1900XTX going from the driver-cd provided CAT's to this CAT 6.2
release, my scores have all increased:

-3DMark05-
before: 10174
after: 10482
Peformance increase of ~3%

-3DMark06-
before: 4644
after: 4887
Performance increase of ~5.2%

Those aren't bad #'s at all.

Also, I had no problems installing the drivers. Worked on the 1st try;
although, I haven't had a problem with an ATI driver install since Cat 3.8 I
think. It's been years...

My car is DEFINITELY faster when I wash/wax/vacuum it. Must add 30hp! :)

Well all went very smoothly this time 3dmark05 12224

Great news!! But I'm a little jealous now. 12224 05's?

What CPU? overclocks?
What RAM? timings?
OC'ing your X1900XTX?

No, they're not bad at all. I'm very envious.

I get 6200 +/- in 3dmark05 and 3200 +/- in 3dmak06 using 6.2 drivers.

My system is a P4 3.0GHZ with 3GB of 3200 DDR and an AIW X1800XL
256MB. Everything is running at stock speeds.

I did all the tests at 1024 x 768 with no AA or AF.

I just added a Xerox XA7-19i monitor to that configuration. It's an
impressive piece of kit, but I'm disappointed to find that it doesn't
appear to be able to go above 60hz refresh rate when set above 1024 x
768 using the DVI connector.

If I use the SVGA connector instead, it's fine, and will go all the
way up to 1280 x 960 at its max of 75hz.

I'm disappointed because I like to play games at the highest
resolution I can, and 60hz gives me a thumping headache and eventually
makes me nauseous.

Anybody know anything about this monitor? I didn't get any
documentation with it.

Ok.

So is your X1900XTX stable at 680/800?

Or is that just for benchmarking...

Right on this is a gold driver for 9600XT AIW and 8500 LE Radeon.
The games I've tried so far are smoother and the WDM drivers and Catalyst
Control Center are improved. Getting Better looking video and like the new
double up
option in displays manager.

Why are you complaining about a difference that you wll never notice
in game lol IMO running battlefield 2 at 1600x1200x32 at 30 to 60 fps
with an average of 45 fps what difference will it make 3% in visual
effect.

on ut4 there was a guy with an athlon fx-60 and a x1900xt...
And you know what he was losing in that game all the time.
So my guess with people like that is that they got a machine that they
can't handle. dha!

Power is good but skill rules.
