Hi forum! :)

I originally had to return an out-of-box defective ATI board, the All-in-
Wonder 9700 Pro.

They did a Preship RMA because I'm a graphic designer and any day my
computer in unusable is incredibly expensive for me, my boss, and our
company. (This was last year.)

Sadly, this replacement board has started to fail in recent days as well,
and according to what I can figure out online, it's a problem with the
onboard memory. Reinstalling new drivers and reseating the card haven't
helped.

Here's a picture of the monitor when the problem occurs (which is getting
increasingly more frequent): http://johnaddis.com/digi_cam_shot.jpg

Here's a portion of a screen shot of the problem (you can see the detail
better): http://johnaddis.com/part_of_screen_shot.gif

Nothing (switching resolutions, etc.) solves the problem except restarting.
Needless to say, it's making my job impossible.

I saw that someone way earlier on the forum had a similar problem and
it was speculated the memory was bad and/or the card was overheating.
Was it ever determined which of these was correct?

Any shared knowledge would be very appreciated!!!

If is happens after the PC is on for a while, it may very well be
overheating. Can you add a replacement cooling option to see if that helps?
You might also try tweaking around inside your case and move the
wires/cables around a bit to get a better airflow.

Have you checked to see that the fan on the vidcard is actually spinning?
Doe sit make any noise. Before giving up on the card as faulty, you should
try another cooling option. Good luck.

Try and find a small utility called Motherboard Monitor, I believe the
current file is MBM_5360. It should give you an idea of the
temperatures in your computer system. Might be a way to eliminate
overheat problem in your system. My system runs around 33 - 35 deg. C
on the CPU and the Motherboard just as a guide.

Good luck.
