Hello,

I need a videocard that can have 768x1024 in stead of 1024*768. I know
nvidia can do this with 'nvRotate' which turns a screen 90°.
Since ATI is a bit faster than the GeForce, i'm more in favor for the ATI.
The only thing i don't know is that it can turn it's screen 90° to have the
768*1024 resolution.

Thanks,
Highvolt

yes it can

ok thanks.

btw, are the official drivers (PC) capable of doing that? because on
another forum, i heard that it only can do it on PC with unofficial drivers
(released by some guy) OR, on a MAC with a program called VersaVision...

Well I'm currently running unofficial drivers (DNA), but I think the
regular drivers let you do it. I think the option is just not enabled
by default. The DNA drivers have it enabled and accessible from the
systray without having to do anything.

Like the sig :-) I don't bother with one on these ng's, but otherwise mine
is "fetch.....THE COMFY CHAIR". If you remember that one.

How?

There isn't a ROTATE SCREEN option that I see in the ATI control
panel... I would like to know too...

Presumably you're not using the latest Catalyst drivers. Or maybe you have
them installed incorrectly. But anyway certainly from Catalyst 9 (and
perhaps before - not sure) and in Catalyst 10, there is a "Rotation" tab in
display properties>settings>advanced.

I have 3.10, I have the 9800PRO/128... there isn't any Rotation tab.

Apologies, I must be mistaken. Well I have it 3.9 anyway. There's another
reason for me not to go to 3.10.

I just bought the ATI AIW 9800 Pro. It was a Sapphire. It came with the
redline tweaker. In that tweaker, there was a section to enable the
rotation tab. I have since uninstalled redline, but the tab is still there
in Display>Properties>Advanced. I'm on another machine right now, but
tomorrow, I will check my registry and post the registry entry that enabled
it. I'm on 3.10.

Okay, here is what I found. You could give it a try.

In the registry (use regedit):
My Computer>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>ATI Technologies>Desktop>...
Not sure about whether that last bit would be the same in another computer,
but it should look something like that.

Under {A690C264-6DC5-43D2-8661-EC1013841B1A}
Rotation REG_DWORD 0x00000001(1)

Under CPTemplate>12924
Rotation REG_BINARY 00 00 00 00

Under CPTemplate>R128
ROTATION REG_BINARY 01 00 00 00

Under CPTemplate>R6
ROTATION REG_BINARY 01 00 00 00

I'm not sure which one actually did it for me, but those are the ones I
found. I suspect that it is the first one.

Anyway, good luck.

Thanks,

Andrew MacLean
