ATi 9800 Pro installation problems

I have just bought a ATi 9800 Pro card to replace a GeForce Ti4200.
It was a OEM card and had no installation CD with it. I downloaded
the drivers from the ATi site, but trying to install the card has been a
nightmare so far. I keep getting errors like this when I try to install
from the downloaded files:

My PC is a XP3200+ 1Gb PC3200 Ram (2x512Mb) on a
Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard. I'm running Windows
2000 Pro SP2 (I did install SP4, but removed it thinking
that might be the problem, but to no avail)

Any help appreciated.

Maybe corrupt AGP driver for your chipset?? Not sure. I did have the same
error message a while back with a 9700pro but can't remember what I did to
resolve. Sorry.

What is the file name of the drivers you have downloaded ?

I downloaded a couple:

wxp-w2k-catalyst-7-962-031202m1-012924c.exe
and
wxp-w2k-7-95-031028m-011774c.exe

I've just pulled out the ATi card and put the GeForce 4 back
and and Im getting the same problem. Must be a Win2000
problem. Lots like a clean re-install might be the best bet
to be honest.

Just double checking the file names.

A format is sure to help !

Late last night I reinstalled my motherboard driver and the GeForce4
worked ok again. So, tonight I'll try the ATi card again.

That didn't work :( But, I've just re-installed Win2000 and it's
now working fine :)
