I have a Toshiba Satellite P35 with an ATI 9100 IGP for graphics. I just
installed RC1 and uses the standard VGA driver. Looking to the ATI website,
there is no Vista driver at the ATI website that includes the 9100. Does
anyone know if ATI will be supporting the 9100 for Vista? I looked to the
Toshiba website also and no Vista drivers either.

Thanks

It's not included in the Vista drivers but you can go to update driver in
device manager and point it to the ATI graphics driver. Device
Manager>Display Adapter>Properties>Driver>Update Driver>Browse My
Computer>Let me pick>uncheck "Show compatible hardware">scroll to the ATI
graphics and choose one. Once that is setup, windows might update it.

hi Rick,
my Shuttle XPC ST61G4 (desktop) also uses the 9100 IGP chipset. i got vista
working with the standard VGA driver without difficulty. i had 128 mb of
system RAM allocated for graphics in the bios. unfortunately the 9100 IGP
doesn't meet the aero hardware requirements, no pixel shader or native
directx 9 support.
i installed a 256 mb ATI Radeon X1600 pro AGP card but it won't work either
because the PCI-AGP bridge driver (called PCI-PCI in device manager>system
devices) apparently doesn't work correctly. there is a widespread 'code 43'
problem reported by users of ATI chipsets with Vista, which prevents aero
glass from working. most of these problems seem to relate to the PCI-AGP
bridge driver because the card itself is officially Vista supported by ATI.
i tried all sorts but couldn't get it to work.

i'm not sure how decent Toshiba are in terms of supporting non-toshiba
hardware, but Shuttle have confirmed that they will not provide drivers for
hardware they don't manufacture (i.e. the 9100 IGP), and ATI have no support
obligation to customers who purchased from Shuttle. there is a good chance
it will never happen with this sort of attitude. i'm due a new computer
anyway so this is a great excuse.

Several users have reported that RC2 has fixed their code 43 problems using
the ATI drivers that come with RC2.

hi JW thanks for the post. is that the Microsoft WDDM drivers for ATI
cards? or the ATI SMBus driver or other? i hadn't heard about any change
with the ATI situation so i'm delighted to read that there has been an
improvement.
cheers

Since I don't have an ATI card running on an Vista RC2 system I do not know
the answer. Maybe someone else can answer.

I am having the same problem as Rick. I have a Toshiba P35 and apart from this annoying problem, VISTA seems quite impressive.

David
