Hi

I have a number of options to record:
- Home THeater PC (MPEG-4): *.avi
- DVD (MPEG-2): *.mpg
- Super VCD
- VCD

I can hook up another hard drive to my pc as I have installed a
removeable drive;

Also any other tips?

Also, my NERO tells that it can't handle "*.avi" due to licensing issue
- is this a limitation of the NERO or I have an older version (mine is
Nero 6)

Thanks

I record in .avi and using Nero convert and burn to DVD.I use Nero ver
6.6.0.14.
This makes a DVD that can play in most home DVD players.
hope this helps

This is a case where the point that .avi is a container is illustrated. The
Mpeg-4 format you indicate may not be compatible with Nero. .AVI can also
hold, say, DV 25 which Nero can recode. Nero has its own version of Mpeg 4
(and .mp4 is a container format whereas Mpeg 4 is a series of
codecs....there are many flavors). Confused? See www.videohelp.com or
DvdDemystified Faqs for further info.

I suggest saving in DVD mpeg2 format for this card if you want to make a
DVD.

Also, while capturing the video, do not exceed the resolution of the
original greatly or you will just be expending more hard drive space, and
create more work for your computer to convert the file to DVD. What are
you capturing from? Do you know the resolution of the original?
