Hi All,
I have a 9000 a-i-w pro and have recorded some television shows from the
antenna to the hard drive in MPG format. I would now like to copy these to
a VCR.
I got the connections to the point where I can see the computer screen on
the TV that is connected to the VCR that is connected to the PC, but I think
there *has* to be a better way, since I see the whole desktop...and it is in
extremely poor resolution.
Is there any way to just capture the MPG file and output that to the
recorder?
Thanks for any help in this matter.

dont judge the image quality by the desktop image - that always looks crap
compared to a avi or mpeg file.

Have you tried using clone mode and running the MPG in fullscreen.
There may be other options, with my nvidia card I could media player on the
second display fullscreen each time it played, not sure about the ATI
though.
Maybe the help files have some suggestions.
Or buy a DVD burner ;-) and use that, or maybe VCD (mpg 1 format) depending
upon the movie size. VCDs can usually be done with a regular CDR/W drive.

What you want is Settings - Advanced - Overlay - Clone Mode Options and set
it to Theatre mode.

Then any video you play will be fullscreen on the TV output.

I'm regularly dumping mpegs to VCR with the 9000 PRO AIW, and the quality
is excellent - remember that when looking at the Windows desktop you are
looking at a still image and trying to read text. Yes, it is horrible, but a
moving picture is just fine.

The only difficult bit (for me) is trying to remember that AV1 of the VCR is
digital TV, AV2 is the Radeon AIW, and the incredible number of connecting
leads - especially sound!

VCR to amp (for good sound on telly)
PC to amp (good PC sound)
VCR to PC (copying videos to mpeg)
PC to VCR (dumping mpegs to VCR)
amp to PC (for MP3s)

- then there's the composite video leads -
a good cable management / labelling system would be nice!
