Hello !
I know that this question might have been asked hundreds of times but is it
possible to install 266Mhz DDR SDRAM with an ATHLON XP2600+ (which runs at
333 Mhz). I have a Polaris 400 motherboard.

Thanks !

What's a Polaris 400 like?
A manufacturer's product page link would help, or detailed spec of
chipset, and if you have bios settings for an asynchronous memory
mode, might be listed as "-33" or "266"... making sure it's referring
to the memory bus being slower than FSB, not the other way 'round.

In general, it will signficantly hurt performance to do as you desire.
Not only does the reduction in memory speed reduce performance, but
using the asynchronous mode does also. Frankly I'd be more likley to
set the FSB to 266, then increase it a few MHz at a time, leaving
memory bus synchronous, and extensively testing the memory with
http://www.memtest86.com. That is, unless the data or time spent on
the system is valuable, then it would be wise to just forego using the
PC2100 memory at all and buy faster memory.
