I have an A7V8X-X mobo with the latest BIOS (1012) which refuses to run
a palomino athlon MP 1.2ghz proc. The BIOS identifies the chip as a
duron and the best I can run it at is 9x100. If I manually configure
the proc (MP's of this vintage are unlocked) at 9x133 with mem set at
266 and the voltage at 1.77 the system won't post.

It is true that this proc isn't listed as a supported proc for this
board but if you follow that asus database then non of their single chip
boards support the MP. I have had no issues running MP chips in other
mobos.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I have one. How about looking closely at the proc to make sure it
is an MP 1.2 and not really a Duron.

Really. I am an ass. The proc I was using *was* a Duron. I though it's
die looked small but why would I actually read it?

The MP 1.2 is in the a7v8x-x and functioning propery. The duron is on
another board and seems to be happy at 6x133. Everyones happy.
