I am thinking of upgrading my processor and motherboard. I have heard a lot of good things about the athlon 64 3200, but I want to know how it performs conpared to a P4 3.2 and a athlon xp 3200. I am looking for the best bang for the buck. I plan playing doom 3 and halflife 2 when they come out and I am wondering which processor would be better. Also what is the performance increase from a athlon 64 to a athlon 64 fx-53. Thanks

The Athlon 64 FX series are very poor "bang for the buck", as are all
super-high end equipment the regular Athlon 64 are *very* good CPUs, they're
good heat wise too, had a 3200+ since November on a KV8-MAX 3. Amazing
piece of kit. :-)
