CHIP FIRM AMD has kicked into price cuts today by slashing prices on
939 and AM2 sockets.
Distributor prices seen by the INQ show that the Athlon 64 3000 will
cost $89, the 3200 $99, the 3500 $109, and the 3800 $139. In the last
case, that's a 50 per cent drop.
All socket and AM2 sockets are rebated, we understand from sources
close to AMD Asia.

Not that I saw. The price drops seem to be on the 512k cache A64s up to
the A64 3800+. The 1mb cache CPUs have dropped a few $$ but not as
dramatic a reduction as the 3500 and 3800.
