I have an evesham laptop, which is about 14 months old, it has :-
AMD Athlon 3000+ 64 Processor
1024Mb of RAM
352MHZ (I think this should be 2.4GHz)

Can anyone tell me how I can make my laptop run at its full specs?? I have run full spyware checks, and downloaded XP service pack 2, There are about 30 processes running in the task manager, although I have taken everything out of the start up menu??

Any help idea will be appreciated

Many Thanks

you have cool and quiet enabled which throttles the CPU to a lower speed to save power, it can be disabled in the BIOS i think

The "processes" are not running, but merely sleeping until needed, look at CAD/processes tab and you'll see, if not doing anything, that the "idle" process is around 98% ;)

Use it ... or install WCG :D

Thanks for the replies, how do I access the BIOS, I'm not too hot on computers??
I don't see anything in the two I have ... but if you use CAD (Ctrl+Alt+Del) the 3 finger salute, you should see it in services.

As you have a laptop I would leave it as is ... it does work very well and helps to prolong battery life and keep the system cool.

If you ever get to do some work on it, it will go back to using whatever processing power it needs. ;)

Sorry, but I think it's quite funny that you never noticed this before in the 14months you have had it ... not laughing at you.

I take it as read that everything "works" as it always has? :)

I only noticed it when I went to install Age of Empires 3, it came up with an error saying my computer didn't meet the minimum specs of 1.4GHz, which is funny as I have Quake 4 running which says it requires 2GHz to run?? I checked in the system details and the speed varies between 352MHz and 800MHz, just a bit worried why its suddenly doing it, as I usually run my laptop on AC power anyway!!

ah right ... helps to have the full story. ;)

Then turn it off ... :thumb:
