At version 1.0.0.0 and yet no updates available????

Hi All

I just installed defender on my XP SP2 32 bit machine, when I try and update
it, it claims there are no updates available despite my update version being
1.0.0.0. I know this is blatantly false.

What is going on? Even if the software cannot connect to the update server,
it shouldn't say there are no updates available. It should say "Cannot
connect..." or something like that. See this screenshot for details.

If you are on a managed network, Defender may well be reaching your
corporate SUS or WSUS server, which isn't (yet?) carrying Windows Defender
definiitons (wsus can, sus cannot)
