After about 10 - 15 minutes, the graphics on the screen just becomes trash.
The computer just begins showing just a rainbow of colors and the monitor
becomes unreadable or the computer freezes and the mouse will only move
horizontally. This just started with this card. I have also used ASUS's
latest drivers and I have used ATI latest drivers. I have also disabled fast
write in the bios and I have disabled Fast Write in the Smartgart tab in the
display settings window. I have also tried disabling VPU Recover. Same
results. Nothing in the computer is overclocked and all of the settings in
the BIOS are set to auto. Is there a special way to setup up these card? Or,
is it RMA time.

System Setup

P4 2.53
Asus p4s8x motherboard
Asus Radeon 9600xt video card
1.5 GB Ram PC2700
CDRW
DVD Rom
3 hard drives
Soundblaster Live 5.1

Latest Drivers used in system

Thanks in advance

Did you check the card with ASUS SmartDoctor? Maybe this tool can give
you some hints.

Another guess is insufficient power supply.

SmartDoctor is saying everything is ok. Im using an Antec True Power 550w
power supply. That is an upgrade from a 400w power supply that was in the
system.

I got kind of the same problem. Eksept my machine only stalls when I
try to play a game (at list for now). To rule out any PSU problems, I
hooked up an extra PSU for my HD - still the same problem.
Sins I got this massage form SmartDocter:
"VGA chipset fan isn't functioning well! Replacing with a new fan may
be needed."
I hooked up my vacuumcleaner to cool it down, still whit out luck.

I hope that you have figured out the problem and are able to help me
or that some one else can.

Thank you

Sounds like a heat problem to me even with the vacuum cleaner o) .. how
many fans do you have in the system and where are they located?
