I recently purchased an Asus P4PS800 mobo. I am not able to get it to
recognize any USB device. At this point the external USB ports are not
installed. The onboard ports are seen by OS (Win 98se) but they do not see
my Brother 1435 printer or my usb Smart Card reader.

Any ideas.

I see a "ICH5usb2_98me.zip" file on the download page. Have you
installed it ?

Also, there are some USB power selection headers on the motherboard.
They are labelled USBPW12, USBPW34, USBPW56, USBPW78. Each of these
is a 1x3 set of pins, and a jumper has to go on either 1-2 or 2-3
so that a source of 5V power is sent to the USB device. If these
headers are devoid of jumpers, or the jumpers have been turned
sideways, then the USB power source will remain dead.

The default orientation for the jumpers is shown here. The jumpers
run east-west. If you install them north-south, then it is like
they aren't even installed.
