Hi,

now I have installed on SATA HD which in in Windows XP shows up as C:\ and
D:\

I bought a new HD now and would like to have XP to install on the new HD and
use the one that is installed now as second HD for data.

Now I just plugged out the old one and plugged in the new one and installed
XP. When booting up now, Windows is installed on drive I:\ but I would like
it to be installed as C:\ and my old harddrive as D:\

Now I learned that I need to change something in the Raid Configuration
Utility. But I can't access it, even though I applied the following BIOS
settings:

Main->IDE Configuration->Configuration S-ATA as RAID: YES

When booting I should receive as what the manual says "Raid Configuration
Utility" by pressing CTRL-I.

The problem is, CTRL-I doesn't show up anywhere.

Any ideas about this? Thx for your help!

Martin

When installing Windows, if you want the drive you install it on to be
the C: drive then that drive has to be set as the first drive in the
BIOS boot order.

Thats not really true. If your installing WinXP you will want the first
boot device set to CDROM and second boot device set to your hard drive.

for me, you have to set up the Boot up device first. after setting it up. go to my computer and change the drive letters of your HD. If lyour new HD has 2 partitions you have to make it Drice C & D respectively and Drive E for the CD rom. lastly Drive F & G for the old HD. i thinnk that should answer your query.

That's true.. I was referring the order of the hard drives - the one you
are installing to should be the first in that list.
