Have the above noted board with 2 -120 Maxtor SATA and one 120 Maxtor in a
removable tray. The removable is taken out, when the power is off, and then
rebooted everything is fine. However after powering down and reinstalling
the removable tray the boot sequence always changes the first hard drive to
the removable tray, hense the machine will not boot. The removable HD is a
data backup that is taken off site. Is there a solution to this problem?

Thanks

Okay, I'm assuming your 120 Maxtor on a removable tray is a P-ATA Drive
You dont mention any optical (CD/DVD) drives, so I'm assuming its bracket is
hooked to IDE1

I've just recently put a new P-ata drive in for storage, and use a single
S-ATA drive
for my boot drive/programs and experienced this same problem (albeit only
once when
I installed it) and honestly I think that because of the way the IDE ports
are numbered,
It's going to assuming IDE1 boots before devices on IDE3 (SATA)

I would suggest changing the setting to boot from the S-ATA drive, and
remove the P-ATA
from the boot devices menu, but seeing as it will forget it when you pull
the drive and reset to its default
behavior, I wont bother.

Are you running the 2x120 SATA in any form of a RAID? or simply as 2 single
SATA drives?

Until then, I think the Boot Device popup (F8) is your only option. At least
until a board/chipset comes out
where the SATA are the primary 2 connections, and the PATA is the legacy
connector and its IDE3 :)
