Why doesn't my new motherboard "ASUS P4BGL-MX" recognize my Intel P4 2.4 GHz
?
When powered the first time, the motherboard sets the speed to the lowest
option : 1.2 GHz
And then it enters the SETUP to let the user alter CPU according to the CPU
he installs.
I installed a Intel P4 2.4 GHz CPU
The SETUP leaves me with the following options :
1. CPU Speed 1200 MHz , Manual
2. CPU Frequency Multiple 12x
3. CPU External Freq. 100, 103, 105, 133, 137, 139
If 1. CPU Speed is set to 1200 MHz, 2. and 3. is gayed out.
If 1. CPU Speed is set to Manual, 2. is still grayed out.
I can alter the 3. setting from 100 to 139.
Plain mathematics tells me that Speed will never reach 2400 MHz.
139 x 12 = 1668 MHz
How do I get the speed up to 2.4 GHz ?
Is there a way to alter the multiplier ?
