I just inherited 512 Mb of PC133 SDRam...... can I mix these sticks
with the PC100 SDRam that I already have installed?

Yes, and usually it should work fine (brand interoperability problems
aside).

Maybe.

Depends if the new memory is actually compatible with the P3B-F in the first
place (eg: does each stick actually have sixteen 16Mx8 SDRAMs - or do they
perhaps have sixteen 32Mx4 SDRAMs?)

If you have proper dimms they are likely to work fine with the original
pair...

Seems like I remember my P3-BF would not recognize a 512K sdram that I had.
It won't hurt to try it..It may only recognize part of the chip though.

No 440BX chipset-based board can use 512MB dimms.

But as the OP mentions "sticks" (plural) I presume he is holding a pair of
256MB dimms...

Depends on the definition of 'use' :-)

One of my P2Bs has a pair of 512MB dimms in it, because they were
considerably cheaper than compatible 256MB dimms at the time of
purchase. The board is quite happily using half of each dimm.

Ah - but that would constitute "mis-use", right?

/daytripper (That's my story and I'm sticking to it ;-)
