ASUS P2B

It depends on the rev of the board. Early boards didn't even support the
850 Mhz processor because the voltage regulator didn't support the lower
core voltage. I don't recall the revs any longer but a google search or the
asus web site should answer the question. In any case it takes Celeron,
Pentium II or Pentium III "slot 1" processors.

Anyone know what the Intel 1 ghz processor number is that fits this board?
(100 mhz FSB)

In Slot-1 processors, sSpec SL4KL and SL4BR are 1Ghz/100Mhz. You can
also use a Socket 370 processor with a Slot-1 adapter, sSpec SL5QV is
1Ghz/100Mhz.

If your P2B is older than revision 1.10, it will have the old style
voltage regulator which can only go down to 1.8v. The processors above
require 1.7v (Slot-1) or 1.75v (S370), but can be run at 1.8v without
problems. Details of how to do this are here:

http://homepage.hispeed.ch/rscheidegger/p2b_procupgrade_faq.html#slot1_not_below_1.8V

Your P2B may also support 133Mhz processors - boards with 4 FSB jumpers,
and boards with 3 FSB jumpers and a 133Mhz setting printed on the board,
usually run at 133Mhz FSB/33Mhz PCI without problems.

If your board has the new style voltage regulator (Revision 1.12 and
some 1.10 boards), you could upgrade to a Tualatin Celeron on a Slot-T
adapter. This might be a better choice as the 1Ghz Coppermine processors
tend to be expensive - if you can find them at all.

Look on this site www.upgradeware.com
and see in the Slot T page if your particular mobo can handle Tualatins.
You can then get a slot T and a Tualatin at Stratton computers.
I got a slot T and a Tualatin 1.1 working nicely in my P2B.
Thanks again to P2B
