ASUS P2-99 mobo question -- EIDE compatible?

Sure, but not at top speed.

So, if I read into your brief response, it will use the device fine, but
will not take advantage of the Enhanced part of EIDE?

If I'm on the right track, is there anything wrong with doing this?

Posting for someone else...

Can anyone tell me if an EIDE hard drive will work on this?

Google didn't yield much info.

Thanks.

It will work fine, but with a couple of limitations which have nothing
to do with "enhanced" IDE, as the distinction you are trying to make.

1) It supports ATA33, not ATA66/100/133, so any drive capable of >
33MB/s will be significantly bottlenecked.

2) The motherboard may need a bios update to support drives over 32GB
in size.
