Hi folks, can you please help.

I have an Asus K8V SE Deluxe motherboard. Can you tell me if the
on-board Promise R20378 RAID controller (ultra DMA133 /IDE, not SATA)
supports 48 bit LBA?

I'd like to connect two 200MB hard drives for RAID 1. Running Windows
XP Home but without the SP1 patch.

Thank you very much.

Windows XP Home requires the SP1 patch in order to recognize harddrives
larger than 137 GB.

Hi thanks both of you for responding.

However, based on my experience if you buy a RAID card for PCI slot,
the card BIOS allows you to use drives larger than 137GB (duh I meant
200GB, not MB) even if the board bios is not set up, even with Windows
XP without SP1 upgrade.

Just wondering if it is the same with the built-in Promise RAID
controller on this board. I can't see why not, but Promise website
provides almost no information.

Hope this clarifies my question, thanks to all of you gurus out there
for your advice.

Glen
