Anyone help me relove this - ive got a sata drive (maxtor) and a fx 5700
graphics card with a athlon 3500 cpu

There must be a bios tweak that will fix it . Any ideas?

When does it crash?
Is it running any particular operating system?
If windows (2K/XP), what do the bluescreens or even logs
show?

Have you checked temps and voltages?

Have you tried a bios update?
Have you changed bios settings?

Any hint about the rest of the hardware, perhaps power
supply? Have you tested for memory errors?

One idea: more description of the "crash". Is it a BSOD and, if so,
what is the error? Is it a shutdown without warning and under what
circumstances? Have your run memtest86, the HD vendor's drive health
utility? Is the OS cloned from a previous HD? What is the CPU
temperature? Are there device errors in Device Manager? What security
is installed - firewall and anti-virus? Have you scanned for viruses
and adware? Is the CPU overclocked?

Q

Seriously, I take my machine to a local "shop" and they diagnose for free if
they do the repairs.
