I am confused about the power supply need for the suject board.
I understand that this board needs a new power supply, not the old ATX type.
What is the difference please,

It's a 24 pin power plug. You can always get a 20 -> 24 pin adapter for
pretty cheap.

Mine is running fine with just the 20 pin plugged in, the
other four are redundant. You do need the ATX 12V
4 pin connection though. With all the USB & SATA
ports you should go with a good sized Power Supply
500w would be just average, for this board.

Redundant? Not hardly. Depends on the load.

Sure if you are running all 10 USB and 4 SATA, but
for most applications the power issue will be what's
available on those rails of the Power Supply. The
"Extra" distribution provided by those four pins
wouldn't be a major factor. On a server board that's
another matter.
