Hi

I am currentely looking at an Asus A7V8X-X as a replacement for my current
Abit KR7A. The reasons for this are that I have just purchased a cheap
Zalman CNPS-6000 off ebay to fit to the CPU as currentely I have concorde
sat next to me. Sadly this cooler does not fit on the CPU in any of my cases
because of the way the socket is aligned on that mobo and the clearance
between the edge of the Mobo and the PSU.
I am looking at the A7V8X-X as a replacement becuase it is cheap (30quid)
and the CPU socket is at 90degrees to the KR7A as oppose to a new full-tower
case.
My question is this:
Can I just stick my old CPU (XP1800) and RAM (2x256Mb PC2100) in this board
or will I run into problems with running an old CPU?
Thanx in advance
Rik

Hi,

I'd imagine it is okay. I have the same board and use an Athlon XP2200
with PC2100 RAM. For the money, the board is good value. But the
documentation on Asus's web site is very thorough and should answer your
question.

Cheers,

Fred.

Thanx Fred

I had read the docs but I thought that I should double check first. Picked
up a new one off ebay for 18 pounds!

Many Thanx

18 quid is quite a deal for that board! I've been very happy with it and
paid a less competitive price...
