Before I upgrade I wanted to make sure this processor will work with my
motherboard (a7v133). From what I've found I can install an athlonxp
2100 with the latest bios. Any advice?

I have the A7V classic 1.01 and ran the xp2100 for months. The bios tagged
the CPU as a Duron. I upgrade the MB to ASUS A7V8X and never could be
happier. Now my A7V classic is retired with a 1.4 Thunderbird

Should I go with the xp 2100 or the t-bird?

There are a couple threads below that lead to web sites that talk about the
A7V(xxx) MB. I believe the xp2100 in work in your MB, but the cpu has a B
type unlocked. Lots of detail to read up on though. With my MB (many others
too) it was not suppose to work but it did!! The bios reads the cpu
incorrectly. Check the forum here. http://www.a7vtroubleshooting.com

Oh ....watch out for heat problems...I had to add variable speed fans,
volcano 11+, and modified case to keep every things cool. The only reason I
changed, could not stand the noise from the fans.

Good luck!!
