Hmm. FWIW, I think that this particular technology is SO well established,
that the difference would be nil. Or at worst, infinitesimal.
That said, if you require only one RJ port - and if you accept the above
premise - wouldn't it be prudent/logical to disable the "odd" one? (i.e.
the one that is not...quite...seamlessly...integrated into the rest of the
platform?)
Mind you, I have no experience to support this. But as I said, I consider
something like an RJ45 port to be very rudimentary. And if I had 2 choices
of something so rudimentary in a *different* application - automobile fuses,
for example - I'd probably stick with the manufacturer's product. (Again,
this presupposes that the 2 choices are, for all intents & purposes,
indistinguishable.)
